FAQ

  • A dietitian has at least a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from a University approved by the Accredited Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), completes an accredited year long internship and then must pass the national licensing examination to acquire the RD credentials. Dietitians are required to obtain CEUs on a regular basis in order to maintain their credentials.

A Nutritionist includes a wide range of people and education levels. Some nutritionists may have a bachelor's degree in nutrition while some may have a certificate from a weekend program. ‘Nutritionist’ is not a regulated term. Whereas, Registered Dietitian, like Medical Doctor (MD) or Physical Therapist (PT), are regulated. Simply put, someone can not call themselves a dietitian if you are not credentialed as one. Whereas anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. It is always important to check education and credentials to ensure the practitioner you are working with has proper training and education.

  • Intuitive Eating is a mind-body approach to eating and caring for your body. It is the art of listening to your body and responding to what it’s asking. Basically, Intuitive Eating is the complete opposite of a diet, a nutrition challenge or food rules. Intuitive Eating puts you back in the driver seat. You take control of how to nourish your body. Being “healthy” is more than just eating nutritious food. It also includes feeling less stress around food and your body. We all know how stress impacts our health.

  • We have experience working with all types of clients including eating disorders, disordered eating, overcoming chronic dieting AKA yo-yo dieting, family/pediatric nutrition and sports nutrition! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you are interested in working with us but don't fall into the above categories. Our team has many years of experience working in medical nutrition therapy. We can match you with a provider that has experience in your area of concern.

  • In our opinion, diets are morally wrong! Sure, diets may work for a few months or maybe a few years but LONG TERM (forever) they do not work. In our experience, many clients report feeling like a failure when they can no longer “follow the diet” or gain the weight back. We’re here to tell you that the diet industry has tricked you into thinking that it’s your fault. If diets worked the diet industry wouldn't be a BILLION dollar business! It is our mission to help you see health beyond the number on the scale.

  • We will work with you to discover your authentic nutrition and health. We will help you reestablish trust in your body, listen to internal cues, find foods that fuel you and leave you satisfied and so much more. We want to help you find joy in eating again. Food is meant to bring pleasure NOT shame and guilt. Eating without stress is good for your health!

  • Disordered eating includes chronic dieting, following restrictive food rules, yo-yo dieting and binge-restrict cycle. Many times disordered eating is disguised as “healthy” eating or being “disciplined”.

  • Intuitive eating is not intended to be a weight-loss method. Learning to honor your body’s cues can lead to weight loss, weight gain or your weight may even stay the same. What does change is your outlook on life. We have seen it happen many times...Intuitive Eating leads to Intuitive Living. We practice from a Health at Every Size® len incorporating intuitive eating and body kindness principles.
