Learn How to Build and Flex Your Mental Muscle

If you know me you know I LOVE to work out and be strong!

Back in the day I was a competitive CrossFit athlete. I thoroughly enjoyed hanging with the youngsters and kicking some butt! Building muscle meant bigger biceps and stronger quads. How much muscle could I build?

Today I've come to learn the importance of building my mental muscle too.

Here are two important things I've learned since I've moved away from building physical muscle and prioritized building my "mental" muscle.

1) Comparison is the thief of joy.
2) The mind is also a muscle

Let's break this down little bit more.

1) Comparison
When have you ever compared yourself to someone or something and felt better? I can agree there may be a temporary feeling of "better" but it's usually short term or it lasts until we compare ourselves to the next thing. Stop comparing. You are you and no one does YOU better than YOU.

2) The mind is POWERFUL!
Thoughts become words which become actions. We need to practice building our mental muscle. Start with checking your thoughts especially around comparison. When during the day are you gauging your success or worthiness based on your neighbor, mom friend, boss, co-worker or whomever? WHY?! You are right where you are suppose to be. Your magic is your magic. Don't change that to fit the mold of someone else. I can tell you when I was competing I didn't enjoy the journey as much as I could have BECAUSE I was too wrapped up in comparing myself, my lifts, my strengths against somebody else's gifts. Exercising your mind will pay back in unlimited dividends. It start with being curious.

Are you ready to stop comparing yourself to others and learn to harness your mind?!
